It is usually installed as part of newer online banking systems. Quite a few of the banks now use this system RBS, Natwest & ING Direct to name a few. Missile is right, you need to contact your online banking support people
RapportService will always run in background and use CPU resources. I had emailed them and they confirmed this to be so. I now only turn it on when doing online banking or online shopping otherwise it is turned off. There are links in the Start menu to turn it on and off. You can copy these links to your desktop.
HSBC now provide rapport as well.
one of client has a problem with it, once the rapport is installed, his IE8 stop working.
Solution:
Uninstall rapport is the best solution till now.
